Brands, take note. Twitter launches beta version of promoted videos

Micro-blog Twitter has just announced 1 more new way of earning revenue.

Earlier this, year, the micro-blog had started experimenting with the new Twitter Video Card. This card streamlines video playback & brings a 1-tap viewing experience in users’ timelines. Over the test period, it found that tweets containing native Twitter video generated better engagement.

Twitter promoted videoBased on this, Twitter today announced a beta version of ‘Promoted Video on Twitter’. These are basically video ads which will allow brands to upload & distribute video on Twitter, & to measure the reach & effectiveness of this content.

Twitter is now offering advertisers the ability to run ads with a new Cost Twitter Per View (CPV) ad buying model. This means advertisers only get charged when a users starts playing the video. Additionally, advertisers using Promoted Video have access to robust video analytics, including completion percentage & a breakout of organic vs. paid video views.

Twitter has also expanded the tests of its native video solution with select Content publishers & verified users. The overall goal is to bring more video into users’ timelines to create a richer & more engaging Twitter.

Their data technology takes into account 1000s of data variables to provide ad Content which actually makes the Site more interesting & valuable for visitors, rather than just an ad occupying valuable digital real estate.

Here’s where it gets a bit interesting, because anyone thinking of giving it a whirl cannot just sign up & copy-paste a bit of code to start displaying ads. They’re pretty choosy about who they take on as publishers, & there’s a contest sitting in the middle of the sign up process.

PubPoolr is an 80:20 revenue sharing ad network, where you get 80% of the ad revenue generated by your web properties. However, any publisher who signs up now is automatically entered into an “Application Appreciation” contest. The 25 contest winners chosen at the end of the quarter will be given a 100% ad revenue payout for 3 full months. The winners can additionally refer up to five publishers to PubPoolr, who will then also get a 100% payout for 3 months.
