Like Digg & Reddit, new Internet startup brings you a personalized Internet

Those frequenting the Internet have always wanted a “personalized” experience, some tool or service that will help make their Online life easy & educative. That is what we at What’s New On The Net try to do, too, & one of the ways is by profiling new Internet startups. But that for some other day.

Today, though, we shall talk of this new Internet startup called ‘theneeds’, based out of San Francisco, USA. theneeds, in beta, claims to aim to give Internet users a “highly personalized” experience for Net surfing. Its patent-pending technology claims to follow your surfing pattern & then give you stuff to your likes. This could be where to find the best restuarants, the best news sites….stuff like that.

In a sense, this new Internet startup is comparable to at least two “personalized” Content sites – Digg & Reddit. On theneeds, too, users vote for the Content posted. Thus, the process tries to do away with the “disconnection” that many feel while using the Internet for information. Users can also share their fav likes with others on the network.

Entourank

Your website ranked on the basis of its social network popularity

Entourank.com is a new Internet startup that claims to have created an entirely new ranking system for websites (Google, please note), based on their performance on the social media networks.

This Web startup collects information about a Site from social media including Likes, Shares, Mentions & any other information from Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or other popular or important social media. With this information, Entourank creates a ranking system using its own specific algorithms. The idea is to establish how a site is being perceived socially.

The new Internet startup already has a million websites in its data base. In order to rank a website, this Web startup collects information by indexing it. Next, it gathers all the information about the site as found on social media networks. On the basis of this, it then allots a rank between 0 and 10 to the website.

Based in California, USA Entourank was launched in September 2012, & is a free-to-use service.

Using this new Internet startup, companies & brands can understand where their website stands vis-a-vis social media. They can use information gathered thus for viral marketing, they can understand how their brand is developing socially, & they can use the info for search engine optimization purposes, too.

This site is registered in the name of Ilan Alon, a programmer, who had earlier launched blogsynergy.com, a bloggers’ social network. Ilan & Leon Brenig are the brains behind Entourank. Leon created the specific algorithm & mathematic formula for its ranking system, while Ilan did the programming for it.
