Blogging platform Posterous to shut down

Popularly known as Posterous, it had become a platform to reckon with, with its sleek design & user-friendly interface. The notice announcing the shut down by the CEO does not give details.

He has not given any particular reason behind the move. The post then goes on to talk of the things users of Posterous Spaces need to do to ensure their files, etc are not wiped off when the due date arrives.

The post says, ”If you want to move your site to another service, WordPress and Squarespace offer importers that can move all of your content over to either service. Just remember: you need to back up your Spaces by April 30.

We’d like to thank the millions of Posterous users who have supported us on our incredible journey. We hope to provide you with as easy a transition as possible, and look forward to seeing you on Twitter.”

This is a real mysterious move because it was only at the start of 2011 that these folks had boasted of usership doubling & the Site doing great. So what happened, Twitter?
