PPLCONNECT Android app creates your own virtual smartphone

The PPLCONNECT Android app, now available as a free app in beta, turns any Internet-connected computing or mobile device into a virtual smartphone.

You could be forgiven for thinking that it’s no big deal in the Cloud computing era when you can continue to work, store & access data, & communicate seamlessly while switching between different devices.

But PPLCONNECT takes it to a whole new level by allowing you to call & send & receive messages from a Tablet or computer, but the recipients at the other end think you’re using the smartphone.

In effect, this creates a virtual smartphone that you log into using the app, & you can now use the smartphone in real time. So regardless of what device you have in your hand at the moment, your communications will continue on the same number as long as you’re using the PPLCONNECT Android app.

ppwlscreenThat makes the app much more useful than just as a virtual smartphone. It’s an integrated communications system that frees you from the complications & complexities of multiple numbers, devices, contact lists & everything else that you need on each device to remain in contact with your world.

To further this integrated communications aspect, PPLCONNECT syncs all messages between the inbox & your different devices. You can access all your contacts on any device.

Also, it’s actually more powerful than your real smartphone because you may multi-task on the virtual smartphone (as in call, send SMS, view contacts, etc.) simultaneously.

Using the PPLCONNECT app is pretty simple too. All you have to do is install & link the app the first time on your Android phone. You may then connect through any other device by opening up pplco.mobi in a Chrome browser. You don’t even have to keep the actual smartphone open, although the app may sometimes need to be kept open for updates.

The Montreal, Canada-based PPLCONNECT was founded by Jenviev Azzolin & Denzil D’Sa in November 2011, & the app is now in open beta. The company has received US $800,000 in seed funding in 2013 from investors including the Canada Media Fund & the Quebec Minister of Finance & Economy.
