It’s been a long time since a new Online chat service was born. So when we heard of Fleep, we certainly were interested.
Fleep is a new Internet startup founded by a group of 6, including 4 engineers who previously worked for Skype. They claim to have developed a startup that specializes in the provision of a user-friendly online chat service. No complications, period.
The decision to launch Fleep came when the team realized that most chat programs were no longer serving the market as adequately as was required. So the founders of this new online chat service came up with the idea of launching an online chat service that would take care of all the shortcomings in other such services. So was born Fleep. At the moment, Fleep operates from Estonia. The services are hosted on the Elastic Compute Cloud from Amazon in Ireland.
Some of the drawbacks in existing Online chat services:
– Having to be Online to receive all messages
– Only being able to add Skype users to a conversation on Skype
– Mobile apps drain batteries, among others
Fleep enables important conversations to take place on the web among groups of people. 
Here are some of its other attributes:
- One-to-one and group chats that work in Web browser as well as iPhone app
- Stop “fishing” for important messages, save them to the Pinboard
- Share photos & documents so they’re always within reach
- Chat histories are always in sync
- Your email address is your Fleep ID
- Add new users to a conversation by their email address. They’ll participate by email until registering
- No ads, no spam, no extra charges. Fleep uses your existing internet connection
How much does it cost? As of now, Fleep is free of charge. But till it is in beta. After that, one will have to pay for the service. There’s even an iOS app, while an Android version, too, is expected soon.
