TapMyBiz

Tap your phone to another and transfer your electronic business card

Physical business cards may soon become passe if this new Internet startup takes  off. Called TapMybiz, it allows you to transfer your business card, albeit in electronic form, from your phone to another, simply by bringing your instruments close to each other.

This is possible using a technology called Near Field Communication (NFC). TapMyBiz allows you to share data on your business card such as your name, up to five phone numbers, address, two email addresses, 3 website urls, Skype ID & social media (Facebook) account details. The information is stored on your card on an embedded RFID tech chip & using NFC, you can then transfer it to other smartphones. The NFC tech in other smartphones then helps them read your biz card.

So why is all this needed?

These guys say it is to simplify your life & help run your business run more efficiently.
Some advantages of using TapMyBiz:

Distributor Advantages:

  • Increased chances of getting one’s data where it should be – with the customer
  • Minimization of lost information
  • More detailed information capability
  • Much more memorable than a plain business card
  • Eco-friendly & tech-savvy

Recipient Advantages:

  • Time-efficient
  • No more costly mistakes due to incorrectly entered data
  • Standardized format

It’s possible to make your own custom designed cards, with your business logo or you can choose from a wide range of available templates from the TapMyBiz website.

The cost of the cards is about $98 for 50 cards with NFC tags on both sides, i.e front & back side, & about $1600 for a thousand pieces (1000). The new smartphone tool supports a wide range of phones running on Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry OS, Blackberry 10 & Symbian.

The Israel based TapMyBiz was launched at the beginning of 2012. Here’s how the transfer is done:

1. Draw your NFC enabled phone near the card

2.Just hold your phone for a moment over the TapMyBiz business card

3.That’s it. The information has been transferred.

There is no app required to be installed on your phone. All you need is the NFC business card.
