Minbox Mac app for file sharing releases version 2

minbox

Minbox is a Mac app for file sharing that allows you to easily send, share & receive files of any size instantly.

Apart from their claim that it’s twice as fast as Dropbox, Minbox also offers several innovations which it says makes it stand apart from other file sharing services & apps.

For starters, even the free version of the app allows you to send files of any size, with no upper limit.

Next, you don’t have to wait for the file to upload before you click send or share it.  Another innovative feature they’re working on is a free Gmail extension that allows you to attach files of any size quickly & easily to an email.

All you have to do is click the attach files button & pick the file or folder you want to send as an attachment. The Minbox extension kicks in at this point & inserts an attachment URL into the message instead of the actual file being uploaded to Google’s servers. This also means that you do not have to wait for the file to upload, & you can just send off the email instantly, regardless of the file size.

The latest update brings Minbox to version 2. Their promo video which outlines the updates service is calling it the “The New Standard in File Sharing.”

Minbox is also pretty handy for those who receive the files. You get a notification, & you don’t have to download the file or sign up for MinBox. You can view media & documents online on any device with or without a Min account. You can also comment on files & collaborate through live chat.

Minbox Pro, priced at $19/month, offers additional features such as unlimited storage as long as you want.

The Pro version allows you to safeguard sensitive files & data being sent or shared with password-protected files & rock-solid encryption. You may also schedule delivery & set files to expire after a specific period.

The sender is notified once the file has been viewed or downloaded, & the sender can see all the stats about the location of recipients accessing the file.

Other Pro features include the ability to use custom URLs & create branded collections with file galleries so that each page will have your company logo, custom background & an avatar of your choice.

The San Francisco, US-based Minbox, Inc. was co-founded in April 2012 by Michael Lawlor & Alexander Mimran. The company has raised $800,000 in seed funding.
