Creating Websites is a breeze with DocPad static Website generator

docpad

DocPad is a static Website generator that helps you easily & quickly create static Web pages from your Content even if you know virtually nothing about creating Websites & Website development.

It’s a bare-bones Web architecture, with optional plugins for all the Content management system features you may or may not need. This makes it a very nimble platform for creating Websites as compared to your traditional CMS such as WordPress or Drupal.

The fact that it generates static Web pages instead of having to send a query to the database on your Webserver every time means that static Website generated using DocPad will consume far less resources, & will load a heck of a lot faster.

Any database queries that are required will be made through Bevry’s QueryEngine.

DocPad is an opensource project built with Node.js & Express.js, which means enhancements can be made easily & developers working on improvements & plugins. It’s very easy to pick up the deployment process using Git, & there’s no CMS versioning headaches or database installations that will trip you up during the installation process.

If you have the content ready, you can create a functional website within seconds. The simple deployment lets you push the generated pages easily to Amazon S3, Heroku or any other host.

It makes use of your file system, & you can download it for Windows. It doesn’t force you to use a built-in WYSIWYG editor. You can use the desktop editors you prefer such as Sublime or Vim.

The opt-in plugins will let you use your own markup, pre-processor, language & templating engine. You can work in Ruby, PHP, Stylus, CoffeeScript & other languages. You can also use the plug-ins to import pages from external databases such as MySQL or services like Tumblr or Dropbox.

DocPad also offers versioning support, which means you can track of the changes you make to your pages & files.

DocPad was created by Bevry, a Sydney, Australia-based Node.js, Backbone.js & JavaScript consultancy.
