Dealing with email overload

Email overload is a modern-day problem. Almost all digital natives are afflicted with it. Most of us spend a large amount of our waking hours sorting out our Inboxes, & the problem can multiply into a major one for large enterprises. Imagine if every employee spends an average of 2 of his daily 9 hours at work just sorting mail?

There are apps out there which do that for you. There’s one more added to that list now – Skimbox. This is a new iOS email client for both Gmail & Microsoft Exchange, available on Apple’s App Store.

email overloadLargely targeted at the enterprise (though it can deliver solutions for individual customers, too) Skimbox says its advanced machine learning technology automatically filters email into two tabs – “Mainbox” for important messages that need to be acted upon quickly, and “Skimbox” for those that can be saved to be looked up at a later date.

Skimbox can not only tackle spam, but also emails on the “grey list”, which means those that you get from colleagues, friends, & people you know, thus helping you tackle email overload problems & save you time.

Here’s what Skimbox offers:

1) Pre-sorted emails – Skimbox automatically sorts mail into two distinct categories, putting critical messages into the “Mainbox” and less important messages into the “Skimbox.” In doing so, Skimbox minimizes the chance of users missing important emails, and significantly decreases the time it takes to scan and “process” email.

2) Intelligent automation – Skimbox uses state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms, coupled with users’ social graphs and keyword cues, to automatically prioritize emails, improving the more it is used.

3) Enhanced security – Skimbox uses advanced encryption technology to ensure the security of users’ emails.

Like its competitor Mailbox, this free app, too has Mailbox-like gestures for archiving, deleting & deferring. It also has multi-edit capabilities, which lets you work through messages in batches

David Wihl, Chief Executive Officer of Skimbox, says InBox overload isn’t just an inconvenience – it’s a problem with a real cost. Particularly for professionals, missing an important message or losing a third of their workday to deal with email comes with a very high price tag. Pre-sorting is just the beginning of what’s possible when applying machine learning technology to help users.
