Javelin mobile browser app for Android offers ad-free experience

new mobile browser

Javelin is a new mobile browser app with advanced features that makes it far easier to browse on Android phones & Tablets.

The 2 most innovative & useful features this new mobile browser app offers is the ability to block ads & multi-task between other apps & the browser. For example, if you are using the Facebook app & click on a link within the app, you can continue using the Facebook app while the browser loads the page.

The browser links you have open are arranged in cascaded windows using the Javelin Stack. It ensures you can open up multiple web pages in separate windows while keeping the referring app open, & then go through the windows one by one.

It also offers single gesture navigation, VPN & a bookmarking feature that automatically sorts your bookmarks based on the frequency of usage.

The ad blocker is implemented into the Javelin mobile browser app using AdBlock-Plus for Firefox. The browser extracts the main Content of Web pages while blocking ads, which means it frees up almost a quarter of your screen more to show the Content.

This, & the ability to adjust fonts & color schemes, makes the text a lot bigger & easy to read. Javelin also offers a ‘Reading’ mode, & an incognito mode for private browsing.

The location access setting is set to disabled by default, so Websites that want to use your location won’t automatically be able to do so unless you specifically enable it in the settings.

Note that some of the features on Javelin, developed by Steven Goh, are blocked in the free version. Premium features, such as the Spirit Mode – a built-in proxy service, are available through in-app purchases.

You can use the proxy service on a trial basis for a month, & after that for a US $1.99 subscription per month. The Pro version of the Javelin browser app will cost you $2.99 as a one-time purchase, also available as an in-app purchase.

In India, UC Browser has a 32% market share of the mobile browser category, as per data from StatCounter.
