For bloggers out there (yup, blogging is very much alive), there’s a desktop blog editor called Blogo, which promises to make your blogging “fast & simple.”
If you may have realized, we did not use the word, “new”. That’s because Blogo’s 1st version was released in 2008 to critical acclaim. Then, with the original creator & a new team, Blogo was re-built from the ground up, with some new features added along the way to create a writing & publishing platform that could be of immense help to bloggers.
For now, Blogo is a desktop app for your Apple Mac. It is also available only for the WordPress platfrom but sweat not they say, Blogo will soon be available for those who use Tumblr & Blogger. The 1st & foremost advantage that this blog editor offers is that it allows you to edit posts from all your blogs from your desktop itself, which is a great boon for those who operate multiple blogs. You can toggle between different blogs without signing in, across your various blogs.
The user interface is minimalist. Users are allowed to drag & drop images, & even do basic edits, thus saving multiple steps in the media formatting process.
Then, there’s this other facility that Blogo offers which may be quite helpful for bloggers – on double clicking on a word or passage, the blog editor throws up a pop up from where you can link, change headings, create quotes, even change the font, among other things. That can be one hell of a time saving tool.
Wait, it’s not over. A 3rd feature of this blog editor is the ability to format blog posts & save them to Evernote. Evernote, say the developers, makes it very easy to manage, organize, & most importantly, have easy access to them. Blogo’s Smart Sync is designed to help users write better & faster with Evernote.
The Smart Sync itself is pretty easy to use. Once you open Blogo, a notification will pop-up asking if you would like to connect with Evernote. Login and you’re on. Keep writing your drafts using Evernote & sync them with Blogo whenever you want.
