Instagram took over the world by storm. It was a simple idea of sharing photos with creative filters on the Web. Soon they added 15 sec videos for fun. Then came apps like SnapChat where people could upload their selfies. Now it’s the turn of Moju. The name may sound funny but this iOS exclusive app wants to make its mark in photo sharing segment of the global social media.
So what does Moju has which other apps don’t? Moju captures a series of images in 50 frames per second & stiches them together to make a single image, all with a motion effect. Ok, so Moju creates a GIF, what’s so different about that? The trick is: The GIF only works when you twist the phone from left to right or right to left.
Basically it gives 3D-like effect when you twist the phone. Moju is a social media app so obviously there’s a photo feed in the app uploaded by different users with the motion effect. Users can like & comment on the photos shared. Similar to Instagram users can also caption the photos. Moju takes 24 shots & combines the photos. User can then select which photo he/she wants to go with the motion.
Co-Founder & CEO Moju Mok Oh has been quoted as saying that the video format is not as concise as the photo format. Mok Oh founded this Startup last year with aim to have all qualities of a still photo but with an animated enhancement which can be controlled by the user.
Like Instagram, users of this app can apply filters to an image, though some features are missing. For instance, you cannot zoom in or out while capturing the image. Also you cannot see the final output in the camera roll as it only uploaded on the Moju servers. But this is the 1st iteration of the app & Mok Oh has already confirmed that future updates will include many features.
