An app that allows you to surf the Net anonymously

Security solutions firm F-Secure has introduced a mobile application, Freedome app, for surfing the Internet anonymously.

The company claims the app enables users mask their IP address & hide their real location. It further claims that this app was an ideal choice to counter cyber snooping.

When you connect to the Internet, your device is assigned a unique IP address. Freedome masks your IP, so you can surf anonymously under the protective F-Secure Cloud. All that is precious – from identity to location – stays hidden & private. Don’t sacrifice your privacy for the sake of mobility.

Users can change their virtual location to the other side of the world. Useful when you want to get the best connection possible, add an extra layer of privacy, or use your favorite services when you’re away from home..

Here’s what you can do with Freedome:

– Turn on VPN to stop people from spying on you when you’re connected – it gives you an encrypted, completely private connection.
– Set your virtual location to a different country than where you are. Currently, you can connect to VPN servers in the US, UK, Germany, Finland & Sweden.
– Use tracking protection to stop advertisers from gathering data on you.
– Block harmful sites & applications.
– Unlimited bandwidth. No ads. No logs.

Automattic toys around with Android app called Selfies

You may know Automattic as the guys behind WordPress.com. But Automattic is also the moving force behind apps like Gravtaar, Code Poetry & PollDaddy.

But for some weeks now though, the Automattic team has been toying with a new experiment called Selfies. It was conceived around the time Automattic raised US $160 million round of funding back in May 2014.

automatticelfiesAs of now, Selfies is extremely simple app. You fire it up & start taking your pics, add a caption & a filter, & posting to the network. At the moment there’s a single, public stream of selfies in the app.

Selfies was conceived amidst developments of a photo app for Gravatar & that’s why for now it’s an Android app. Encapsulating the excitement of taking & sharing selfies, the Automattic team released the Selfies app as a platform for this very purpose.

Clearly, the app is in its infancy. Users can also react to other people’s selfies with their own images or captions, which often leads to a fun back and forth that turns selfies into mini stories. The team at Automattic has made an effort to find the “quickest time to fun” in this app – get users to post and enjoy images right away instead of making them go through the numbing series of sign ups, logins, Facebook & Twitter connections, etc that are common in other apps.
