Apple releases iOS 6.1.3 but same hacker promptly discovers new security breach in iPhone

Poor Apple. It seems to be hitting the headlines recently for all the wrong reasons. Barely hours after it released iOS 6.1.3 version to breach a security gap, another one was found in the iPhone’s software.

According to a report in the UK’s Daily Mail, the new vulnerability differs from the passcode bug fixed by the latest iOS update but it too gives unauthorised access to the phone’s contacts & photos.

The iOS 6.1.3 aims to put a stop to hackers who discovered a simple combination of button presses to bypass the phone’s lock screen.

What is even more embarrassing for Apple is that the new flaw was revealed on YouTube by user videosdebarraquito, the same person who had previously posted a video on the earlier flaw.

Zynga moving away from under the shadow of Facebook

Seems like Online social gaming site Zynga has decided to take steps to move out from under the shadow of social network Facebook. A new Zynga.com is on the way.

Beginning next week, when you visit Zynga.com you will see a new signup page that lets you create your own account just for playing games. This is something new ’cause earlier you needed a FB account to play Zynga’s social games.

According to a blog post by Cadir Lee of Zynga: We also wanted to make sure that existing Zynga.com players continue to have the best experience possible so you don’t have to start from scratch.  All players will have the option to connect with Facebook and keep your game friends and game progress, while deciding what you share with your gaming community.

Explaining further, Cadir said they had initially rolled out the beta of Zynga.com, to innovate on more ways to play & to introduce players with others. “Zynga.com enabled us to build new features that made play more fun and social such as real-time multiplayer, or the live Social Stream where you can tap into the community of players to help you progress in your game. What we’ve seen is that players like you engage with more people and come back to play again and again.”

Cadir added that the beta enabled them to do a lot more than innovate on new ways to play. Based on the feedback by payers for a “place that is even more dedicated to games”, Zynga said it had decided to refurbish Zynga.com & also bring in the new signup system.
