Remote control your desktop using the Internet or your phone

In today’s world, most of us are kinda trapped between our computing machines. We have a PC at home, one in the office, then our own smartphones, Tablets….you get the picture.

So how many times have you come home, logged on to your home desktop & realized that a particular file is on your office PC, & you have no access to it right now? But this need not be the case ’cause there are solutions out there that can help you out of this quagmire.

LogMeInOne such is LogMeIn. This Boston, USA-located company has been around since 2003, and provides users with solutions for remote control, file sharing, systems management, data backup, business collaboration & on-demand customer support of PCs, servers, Macintosh computers, smartphones and other connected devices.

LogMeIn has a host of products in its armoury, many of them to do with online file sharing. One of them is the Cloud-based cubby.com. Cubby provides a flexible method of keeping your files organized at your command, both for individual productivity and shared collaboration at an individual & enterprise level.

A “cubby” is any folder you want to have on all your computers, available from any device, stored at www.cubby.com or shared publicly or privately. Once a folder is a cubby, you can access it from anywhere.

Cubby is built on LogMeIn’s Gravity Data Services, a proprietary data synchronization & storage cloud. You can send a cubby to anyone with a public link. They’ll be able to access the files inside but won’t be able to edit them. When you want to collaborate, invite colleagues to your cubby with their email address, they can make changes to your documents, & the latest file will always be in your shared cubby.

While the service is free (upto 5GB) for individual users, enterprise & others have to pay a fee to use the same.
