Here’s how to make disposable email addresses

One of the biggest bugbears of life on the Internet is email addresses. We are all nervous of giving our email IDs out simply because of spam & the fear of them being misused. In the past, too, What’s New On The Net has written about startups that help make disposable email addresses or what are dubbed as “throwaway” email IDs.

33mail1Here’s one more company called 33Mail that does the same. Though started a few yeas ago, this Ireland based startup has one simple mission in life – to provide users with disposable email IDs.

Here’s how it works:

You need to sign up for an account with 33Mail & pick a username. For example, “Donjoe”. Now, any e-mail address ending with …@donjoe.33mail.com will be forwarded to your actual email ID.

Also, the next time you visit a website that asks for your e-mail address, instead of giving them your real e-mail address, just make one up especially for them. For example, if the website that is asking for your email address is tribble.com, you might give them tribble@donjoe.33mail.com. Later, if tribble.com start to send you e-mails you don’t want, or even if they sell your e-mail address to a spammer, just click on the link that is available on top of every e-mail that is forwarded, and 33Mail kill the alias.

While the basic service is free, there is also a premium one available if you want all the trimmings.
