Create clean lockscreens for your iOS 7 device with the Lockscreen Wallpaper Designer app

Creating wallpaper-based lockscreens for iOS 7 can prove to be quite a challenge & this is where the Lockscreen Wallpaper Designer app steps in. Using it, you can create perfect lockscreens that look good without impeding usability in any way, claim its developers.

With the release of the iOS 7, Apple took away the ability to pinch & zoom an image for the lockscreen until it was good as could be. iOS 7 grabs the wallpaper image & often positions it in such a way that it’s all garbled & you barely recognize what’s in the picture.

lockscreenThe parallax effect that’s at the root of this problem can be eliminated by turning off the ‘Reduce Motion’ feature in iOS 7. Of course, you can’t always keep giving up functionality because of undesired side effects, & there’s a whole army of iOS app developers ready & willing to tackle such problems.

One of these developers is Erwin Zwart, who has come up with the Lockscreen Wall Designer app. It not only eliminates the troublesome mangling of your lockscreen image, but also enhances the lockscreen into something much more beautiful than your ordinary background image of sunsets, flowers, selfies or whatever else you may prefer.

The image is shown at a perfect resolution within a specific shape (round, star or rectangle with curved edges) at the center of the screen. The app also picks up the colors from your chosen lockscreen image & shows a blur of this color as the background for the time & slide-to-unlock display above & below the image.

The result is a rather clean screen with a perfectly focused lockscreen image at the center & a color you like for the rest of the screen, with the time & slide-to-unlock perfectly visible.

Erwin Zwart is an iOS developer from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He works at Infostrada Interactive, & develops independent iOS apps in his spare time.
